DHAKA: Customs Department detained a person with nine gold bars weighing 1.4 kilograms worth about Tk 70 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city early Saturday.

The detainee is Ilman Hossain, 33, hailed from Comilla district.

Airport Customs assistant director Umme Nahida said, “Ilman arrived at the airport by a Kuala Lumpur flight. Acting on a tip off, the officials searched his body while crossing the airport green channel and found the gold bars.”

A cased was filed with the Airport Thana in this connection.
