DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to start judicial investigation into the incident of killing a businessman in police custody.
Metropolitan Session Judge Court Justice Jahurul Haque passed the order after hearing on the cases filed by victim’s wife Mumtaj Sultana Lusi.
Mirpur Thana Officer-in-Charge Salauddin Ahmed, Sub-Inspector Jahidur Rahman, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajkumar, Constable Asad, Rashedul among 10 others were accused in the case.
Earlier, SI Zahidur Rahman was closed at the police lines after the death of the victim.
On July 12, Mitpur Thana Police held businessman Mahbubur Rahman Sujon from his Dhanmondi residence and recovered two magazines and ten bullets.
Sujon’s cousin Apu Chakladar alleged that after detaining Sujon police beat him to death in the Thana.
However, the police department has formed a 3-member probe body, headed by Mirpur Zone additional deputy police commissioner Jashim Uddin, to look into the case.
