3 killed in Tangail road crash

TANGAIL: Three people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Pungli area of Kalihati upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as cattle trader Dabir, 35, son of Dudu Mia, Khorshed Alam, 34, son of Abdul Halim and auto-rickshaw driver Jahid Hossain, 28, of Char Hugra village of Sadar upazila.

Kamruzzaman Raj, Sergeant of Alenga Highway Police outpost, said a rashly driven passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area around 1:15 pm, leaving five auto-rickshaw passengers, including its driver injured critically.

Locals rushed them to Tangail Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared Dabir, Khorshed and Jahid dead.
