TANGAIL: The prime accused of Tangail Model Thana Assistant Sub-Inspector Nurul Islam murder case was killed and two others injured in crossfire in Takia Kadma Dakkhin Para area of Mirzapur upazila of the district early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Nur Islam alias Ulka, prime accused of the case, while the inured were his associates Shahed, 28, and Sagor, 28.

Distrcit Police Superintendent confirmed the matter told banglanews.

Mirzapur Thana Sub-Inspector Shymol Kumar Dutt told banglanews, “Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at the house of Abdul Manna at 5:00am in the area; sensing the police presence, Ulka’s cohorts fired bullets, police retaliated with gunshots in self-defense, leaving Ulka dead on the spot and two others injured.”

Several others of Ulka’s cohorts fled the scene. Police also recovered two foreign made pistols, and 11 rounds of bullets from the spot.

The injured were taken to Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur. Of them, Shahed is in critical condition, said sources of the hospital.

Dr. Barshan of the hospital said, “Sagor bore hit marks on his two legs and Shahed’s right eye gauged out.”

On Friday night, police surrounded Ulkas’ house in Adalatpara of the district to nab him, tat that time he ran away firing bullet that left ASI Nurul bullet-hit on the chest and the hands. Nurul died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday morning.
