KUSTIA: At least 15 people went missing when an engine-run boat turned over in the middle of the Padma River near Bairagi cahr in Dawlatpur upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The boat driver, who managed to arrive at the river bank, told banglanews, “Some 20/22 youths of a nearby village went on a trip to the cahr by the boat; on their way back, the boat capsized in the middle of the river due to heavy currents and weaves.”

Some six or seven of them managed to arrive at river bank while rests of them remain missing till filling this report at 5:00pm.

Two units of Fire Service are on way to the spot. Rescue operation is underway bythe local people.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shamimul Haque Pavel is on the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
