SHERPUR: A woman hacked her husband to death in Goruhat area under Jhinaigati upazila of the district on Wednesday morning as they had had family feud for long.

The victim was identified as Seyedur Rahman Fozu, 57, a contractor, of the village.

Meanwhile, police detained the wife, Asman Khatun, following the killing.

Police, quoting family sources, said, Fozu had had a feud with her wife for long, which sometimes made Asma mentally-disabled. On Wednesday, the women had a quarrel with her husband right after he awoke from sleeping at 9:00am.

At one stage, Asma hit on Fozu’s head by an axe, leaving him critically inured.

He was rushed him to the Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to the district Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, police detained the woman from the place.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Jhinaigati Thana Officer-In-Charge Fosihur Rahman said, Asma gave confession at the Thana, and the woman may be a mentally-disabled person.”
