Dhaka: Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students staged a sit-in at Palashi intersection on Friday morning to press their demand for punishment of the killer bus driver who drove over their fellow-student Samrat and nipped a genius in the bud.

The angry protestors also blockaded the road from the New Market intersection to Palashi crossing via Azimpur and Chankharpul, disrupting traffic on the busy route for hours in a backlash to the terrible accident.

Khandakar Khan Jahan Samrat, 19, a first-year student of BUET, was crushed under the wheels of a bus on Thursday morning in the area.

Agitated by the accident, blamed on “reckless driving”, the students Thursday ransacked 30 vehicles while burnt six and blockaded the road for around four hours in an instant protest.
