DHAKA: A mugger was killed in a police firing beside Red Crescent in Hatirjheel area of the city early Thursday, police sources said.

Age of the deceased was nearly 30, whose identity could not be known immediately, Ramna Thana Sub-Inspector Atikur Rahman told banglanews.

Police sources said, “On secret information, Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police drove operation in the area at 4:00am. Police traded gun firing with the mugger gang there, leaving one bullet–injured.”

Police seized a motorbike, foreign-made pistol and two rounds of bullet from his possession.

The injured was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:00am.
