DHAKA: Law minister Anisul Haque assured that draft of amendments to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act-1973 will be sent to the cabinet soon for its approval.
In the amendment, specific provisions for punishment for organisations will be added, as if the law will clear the way for the trial of the Jamaat-e-Islami for its alleged war crimes in 1971.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters in a view exchange meeting on Registration Manual in city’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Thursday noon.
“We are entering a new chapter completing 42 years. As a party Jamaat-e-Islami’s trail is mandatory, this will reflect the longing of the country people” said Anisul.
He also said the number of tribunal will be increased if the cases increased and on the other hand, the reverse step would also be happened.
Answering to the query about the implementation of the ICT verdict, the minister said it is the matter of the tribunal.
