DHAKA: Government has finalized the draft of Education Law keeping provision of 10 years imprisonment for question paper leaks, said sources.

A high official at Education Ministry told banglanews, “A provision has been included on the issue of question paper leaks and its penalty.”

“Earlier, education Ministry sent the draft policy to the cabinet, which the cabinet returned with some observations,” said Education Ministry joint-secretary (audit and law) Rafiquzzaman.

Sources of the ministry said, “A workshop will be held on the draft law at the third week of the ongoing (August) month followed by the placing it before the cabinet with the inclusion of the noted people’s opinion to the law.”

The ministry moved for formulating the education law in line with the National Education Policy 2010 a year ago, and uploaded the draft copy on its website on previous time.

Earlier, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid told banglanews, “Due to having the issue of finance allocation, opinions of the finance ministry has been taken on the law.”

“And the law will been placed before the cabinet soon,” Nahid added that time.
