13 BD men being buried in Libya

DHAKA: Bodies of the 13 Bangladeshi migrant workers, who were recently killed in war-torn Libya, will not be brought back home.

They will be buried there somewhere in Libya, sources told banglanews.

This thing is happening for lack of an aircraft which could bring their bodies to Bangladesh in spite of postponing air services in the country, sources added.

In this circumstance, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Khondaker Showkat Hossain said that relatives of some of the dead migrants had given their consent to bury the bodies in Libya.

Anyways, after getting their consent, the Bangladesh Embassy to Libya has already buried two migrants there by this time.

The others will also be buried soon there as both of the airports are closed in Libya right now and there are no more scopes to preserve the deceased bodies.

Of the 13 Bangladeshi workers, five were killed in a missile attack in Tripoli on August 5.

They were Monir Mia from Narsingdi, Milon Hossain from Jhenidah, Moshiur Rahman from Gopalganj, Sheikh Mohammad Milon and Murad, both from Madaripur.

Later, four other Bangladeshis died from cardiac arrests.

They were Mokbul Hossain from Comilla, Jamal Mia from Kishoreganj, Belaet Hossain from Jamalpur and Mojid Ali from Manikganj.

Another, Selim Ahmed from Moulvibazar, faced normal death, while Mafuzur Rahman from Noakhali was shot dead, according to a report from the Bangladesh mission in Libya.

However, the particulars of two others, Kamal Bhiyan from Bhramanbaria and Arman Gazi were not available.
