In the noon, a discussion on the poet’s life and works and a poetry recitation program were held at its Headquarters in Gulshan area of the city.

Addressing the program, speakers said Shamshur Rahman was a rebel voice against the injustice and he played importance role in every democratic movement, including the Liberation War in 1971.

The poet raised his voice demanding trial of the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after the tragedy on August 15, 1975.

BNP-Jamaat men assaulted him on the street as he had been demanding trial of the war criminals, they added.
