Pinak-6 owner, son remanded

MUNSHIGANJ: A district court Monday placed four-day remand to ferry Pinak-6 owner Abu Bakar Siddique Kalu and his son Limon for police interrogation.

Munshiganj Judicial Magistrate Court Harun-or-Rashid passed the order after holding a hearing when Lauhajang Thana Police produced them before the court with separate 7-day remand pleas.

Police Court Inspector Kuddus Rahman said that BNP Vice-president Abu Bakar Siddik said that police detained Pinak-6 owner Abu Bakar Siddique Kalu, also Medinimondal UP BNP Vice-president and his son Limon on August 13 and August 16 respectively.

Earlier on July 4, with over 200 passengers on board, Pinak-6 capsized near Mawa Ghat in Lauhajang upazila of the district, leaving 48 people dead and missing scores.

In which, 28 bodies were handed over to their family and 17unidentified were buried by local administration.

BIWTA accused six people, including the launch owner, its Sareng and helmsman for causing death by negligence.
