DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, asked the authorities concerned to construct all roads with concrete gradually.
The premier made the plea in the meeting of Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) in the capital on Tuesday.
The committee sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The premier said the roads are destroyed quickly as these were made with bricks, brick chips, bitumen and pitch-rolling. “If the roads were made by concrete these would be long-lasting,” she observed.
After the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told reporters that the ministry would take necessary actions as per PM’s order.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting of ECNEC.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud and Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan were among others present at the meeting.
