DHAKA: Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) on Thursday demanded exemplary punishment of a Sub-Inspector of police for involving in attacking Ekushey TV journalist Akhil Poddar.
The demand came from a human chain organized by Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in front of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the noon.
CRAB leaders, in their speech, highlighted how police attacked Akhil Poddar and demanded exemplary punishment of Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam of Khoksa Thana in Kushtia district.
Speakers forewarned that they would go for stricter movements if the involved police official is not arrested within 48-hour.
The journalists also announced to stage a protest rally in front of the National Press Club on Sunday.
The program was presided over by CRAB president Aktaruzzaman Lavlu.
DRU vice-president Rafiqul Islam, general secretary Ilias Khan, journalists Asraful Islam, Sazzad Hossain, M Rafique Amin and Akhter Hossain, among others, also spoke.
