ACC quizzes 4 WASA officials

DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has quizzed four WASA officials, Chittagong WASA deputy secretary Mohammad Jahangir Alam, for their alleged involvement in corruption and bribe.

ACC senior deputy director Mir Mohammad Jaynal Abedin Shibli quizzed them at ACC headquarters in city’s Segunbagicha area.

The officials are Chittagong WASA assistant engineer (civil) Farhana Jebin, account assistant Afsana Nur, tax officers Mir Hossian and Liakat Ali.

Moreover, the ACC will quiz the chief accused Mohammad Jahangir Alam and four others on the same allegation on Monday.

According to the sources, Chittagong WASA deputy secretary Mohammad Jahangir Alam is accused of taking bribe for promotions, inter-office transfers and other official activities.

He is also accused of showing nepotism in his duty, sources added.
