CTO Conference 2014 Begins Sep 8

DHAKA: A three-day Commonwealth Telecommunication Forum (CTO) Conference will be held at Radisson hotel in city from September 8.

Bangladesh Government and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) are jointly hosting the international conference for the first time in the country.

Posts and telecommunications minister Abdul Latif Siddique will inaugurate the event, with the motto of ‘ICTs for Development: From Access to Inclusive and Innovative Services’.

State minister for Posts, Telecommunications and IT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, UNDP chief technology officer Shirin Hamid, Telecentre.org Foundation regional community coordinator Nabil Eid and Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman, among others, will speak at the program.

According to the organizers, this year’s event will attract a carefully targeted audience of high level decision makers representing both the public and private sectors.

This event aims to draw high level participation from ICT ministries, regulators and operators from across the Commonwealth.

These include ICT ministers, regulators and operators, making the event an excellent podium for strategic promotion, advocacy and networking.

The event will focus on the key aspects of ICT access and utilization including infrastructure, connectivity, applications, value added services, data and security.

The key agendas of the forum are to building a sustainable ICT Infrastructure: challenges and opportunities, evaluating the benefits of e-commerce in emerging markets and mobile technologies, applications and VAS.

It will also put focus on creating an efficient e-governance system, transparency and open government and the role of Open Data.

Cloud-based business process outsourcing and financing technological developments in the Commonwealth are also included in the agenda.

According to the agenda, the number of seminar and panel discussion will be held on different issues like gaining access: enhancing ICT development, connectivity policy and regulation, assessing the need for regular and effective coordination among ICT regulators and industry, financing infrastructure, the mobile commerce, revolution technology and social inclusion, cloud computing for development, ICT and accessibility for people with disabilities, integrating ICT into education, technology and social inclusion, protecting the young and the vulnerable any many more.

The reputed international and local ICT experts, government officials and stakeholders will participate and speak at the event.

The organizers think that the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO) is committed to the development and implementation of ICT initiatives for socio-economic development across the Commonwealth.
