DHAKA: Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Khorshed Alam Chowdhury on Thursday said the government cannot ensure security to the skirt-clad girls at midnight in the city.

He was addressing a seminar on ‘roles of resorts in developing country’s tourism’ organized by Tourism Resort Industries Association of Bangladesh (TRIAB) at Hotel Abakash in city on Thursday.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present as chief gust while the secretary was delivering his speech.

Khorshed said Sultan Resort in Moulvibazar is violating many sections of the law on resort running. “If I protest then they will call me ‘unfriendly to tourism,” he said.

Regarding the initiatives of building railway to Cox’s Bazar, the tourism secretary said that if we can convince the government then the government will come forward in developing tourism industry.

Ziaul Haque Hawlader, a writer on tourism, presented keynote paper at the seminar.
