BRAHMANBARIA: Miscreants chopped an election officer as he declined to enlist name in voter list at his office in the district on Monday.

The victim official--Belayet Hossain, 42—was rushed to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.

Belayet told banglanews that few youths came to office and asked him to insert their names around 2:30pm. “I told them that the name will have to be inserted by following rules and they hit on my head with lethal weapons,” he said.

He added: “Later, my colleagues took me to hospital.”
