DHAKA: Nazrul Sangeet legend Firoza Begum was laid to rest at Banani Graveyard in the city on Wednesday afternoon after largely attended funeral.

Two of her sons Hamin and Shafin, relatives and well wishers from all walks of life were present at the graveyard.

Earlier in the day, people from all walks of life paid their tribute to Firoza Begum at the Central Shaheed Minar premises.

The body of the Firoza Begum was brought here at 1:30pm and kept till 4:00pm.

Hamin said none but his mother sacrifices her life for the sake of Nazrul Sangeet. “She did a lot for the welfare of Nazrul Sangeet,” he added.

Hamin, however, requested all to pray for his mother’s departed soul.

Earlier in the morning, Firoza Begum’s body was taken to her city’s Indira Road apartment from the Apollo Hospitals where she breathed her last.
