Robber killed in Jessore gunfight

JESSORE: A suspected robber was killed and two policemen injured in a gunfight in Aminpur graveyard area under Manirampur upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Osman, 35, son of Azibar Dafadar, hailed from Hasadanga village of the upazila.

The injured police men are- Constable Nazrul and Prabir.

Meanwhile, police seized a shatter gun and two bullets of rifle.

Manirampur Thana Officer-in-Charge Mollah Khabir Ahmed said that acting on a tip off police detained Odman. Later, police went the area to recover arms with the robber then, the cohorts of the robber opened fire aiming police. In reply police also opened fire, leaving the robber dead on the spot.

Later, police recovered the body and sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“Osman was wanted in seven robbery cases,” OC added.
