DHAKA: The government has imposed a ban on catching and selling of Hilsa fish for 11 days starting from October 5 to boost production of the delicious fish.

The Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Tuesday announced the ban during the main breeding period of Hilsa.

According to the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act-2011, the ban will be from October 5 to 15.
