LALMONIRHAT: A Lalmonirhat court on Wednesday awarded life-term imprisonment to three accused in a rape case in the district. 

The convicts were also fined Tk 100,000, in default, they have to serve six-month more imprisonment.

Justice Siddiqul Arefin Chowdhury of Lalmonirhat District and Session Judge Court passed the order after the hearing.

The convicts are Khatiar Rahman, 30, son of Atwar Rahman of Barokhata village, Aynul Islam, 31, son of Golam Mostafa of Sardubi village in Hatibandha upazila and Arab Ali, 29, son of Abdur Rauf of Madati village of Kaliganj upazila.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Akmal Hossain said the trio raped a 14-year-old girl of Hatibandha upazila on January 20, 2004.

The next day, victim’s father filed a case with Hatibandha Thana under and Children Repression Prevention Act.
