JOYPURHAT: Miscreants looted about Tk 2 crore by breaking vault of BRAC Bank’s in Joypurhat branch sometimes between Friday night and early Saturday.

The incident took place at the first floor of Shahjahan Manson in Bata intersection area on Bogra road.

Joypurha Superintendent of Police (SP) Abu Kalam Siddik confirmed the matter on Saturday noon.

He said a gang of miscreants entered the bank by breaking the wall of eastern side. Then they broke the volt and looted Tk 19,500,000.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Major Abdur Rahim said that two night-guards of the bank Faruk Hossain and Helal Uddin have been nabbed in this connection.

Sources said one Abdur Rahman Mollah rented a house adjacent to the bank building. They miscreants had broken the wall from that side.

Mullah told his house owner that he had been doing business in Dhaka.

Besides, a team of police, led by additional superintendent of police (ASP) Abdul Mannan, visited the spot.
