DHAKA: Two minors drowned in the river Brahmaputra at Akandapara village in Islampur upazila of the district on Tuesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Rifat, 8, son of Abdur Razzaq and Razu, 9, son of Abdur Rauf, residents of the area.

Locals said that the minors drowned in the river, adjacent to their houses, while they went for a bath there.

However, at one stage locals rescued the duo and took them to Islampur Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared them dead.

Union Parishad (UP) Chairman of Goaler Char union Enamul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.
