KURIGRAM: A police constable committed suicide drinking poison in Khalilganj area of the district on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Prakash Chandra Roy, 41, a court police constable, hailed from Lalmonirhat.

Sources said that he drank four bottles of pesticide at 7:00pm at his rented house in the area.

He was rushed to Kurigram Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he breathed the last at 10:30pm on the day.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Kurigram Additional Police Superintendent Shahabuddin Ahmed said that the reason behind his suicide could not be known immediately.

Prakash Chandra was mentally depressed for a long time, he added.
