FROM GABTOLI CATTLE MARKET: A truck carrying 23 sacrificial cattle was snatched on Tuesday from Aminbazar bridge area outskirt of city.

Nur Mohammad, trader of the sacrificial cattle, hailed from Manikganj’s Singair, told banglanews that the miscreants snatched the cows just before entering the Gabtoli animal market in the dawn.

The cows were brought from Benapole in Jessore, he said adding that however, the truck was found later in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir.

Mentioning the number of miscreants from eight to ten, Nur Mohammad said that the snatchers took away the cattle after wrapping the truck driver and four on board shepherds in bags.

Moreover, he claimed that if the law enforcers were on duty in the area, the incident might not happen.

“The law enforcers usually patrol only in the filling stations and market places,” the trader added.

He demanded the government to return his cows worth of Tk 15 lakh with the help of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police.

Cattle market area police camp member Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahinul Islam said that they didn’t know anything about the incident.

The truck driver might be involved in this unpleasant incident, he added.
