MANIKGANJ: An elderly woman has been slaughtered here allegedly by his adopted son in Singair upazila the district early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ambia Begum, 80, wife of a late Hakim Khan, resided in that village.

Police, however, detained the killer, Nizam Uddin, 50.

Sources said that the deceased’s neighbors found her slaughtered body in the morning.

Later, police, after being informed from locals, recovered the body and sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, sources added.

Nevertheless, Ambia Begum’s neighbors alleged to banglanews that her son Nizam had been torturing the woman physically over land dispute.

Nizam might kill his mother, they added.

Anyway, confirming the matter to banglanews, Singair Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Sayeduzzaman said that police detained the suspect.
