DHAKA: Savar MP Dr Enamur Rahman’s father-in-law Fazlul Haque, who was abducted from Malaysia two days ago, has been rescued on Friday night.
Malaysian police rescued him from Kuala Lumpur, sources told banglanews.
However, 11 persons have also been detained for their involvement in the abduction in which nine from Malaysia and two from Bangladesh.
The two persons, who have been detained in Bangladesh are -- Al Amin, 27, son of Kaji Abdul Majid, residing in Pagarpara village under Ullapara of Sirajganj district and Najrul Islam, 32, son of Sohrab Ali, residing in Katibari village of Kamarkhand thana under the same district.
Fazlul Haque, who is involved with hotel business in Malaysia, was kidnapped near Sepang International Airport in Kuala Lumpur while returning to Bangladesh on Wednesday night.
Kidnappers demanded Tk1-crore ransom from his family living in Bangladesh over phone to free Fazlul Haque.
However, when the negotiation was going on, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police were monitoring the situation and tried to track the miscreants’ phone.
Later, they found that the number which was being used to talk with the Fazlul’s family was also being used to talk another numbers in Bangladesh located at Sirajganj.
Moreover, law enforcers’ prediction came true that any Bangladeshi might be involved there in the abduction when the abductors asked to handover the ransom near Jamuna Bridge of that area.
As the abductors’ earlier decision, Fazlul Haque’s son Monirul Islam, started to deliver the Tk1 crore on the fixed date. Moreover, different teams of police and RAB were covering him from a safe distance.
They said Fazlul’s son to drop the bag carrying the money at a certain spot.
Later, when the abductors came to take away the money, RAB detained them.
Nevertheless, the victim’s family is grateful to both Bangladesh and Malaysia governments.
Fazlul Haque’s wife Monwara Haque said that they are now expecting that her husband will be able to return home soon with the help of external affairs ministry.
