CHITTAGONG: State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku on Friday said evil forces are becoming active again after beginning the trial process of war criminals.

“The evil forces are now trying to create unrest in the country’s various sectors including garment”, said Tuku in a meeting on law and order at Chittagong Circuit House.

The minister also said, “The International Crimes Tribunal is taking legally action against war criminals. But no section can intercept people’s peace creating anarchy in protecting those who committed crime against humanity during ’71. They can also face the situation legally by appointing law experts.”

He also suggested law enforces to remain alert as the trial has begun.

Chittagong division DIG Asaduzzaman Mia, Deputy Commissioner Foyez Ahmed, Police Super AZM Morshed, RAB’s regional head Lt Col Sajjad Hosain and high officials of BDR and Ansar-BDP attended the meeting.

Regarding modernization of police department Tuku said, the government decided to recruit 32,000 police personnel. Of them, 13,000 would be recruited by this year, he added.

Laying emphasis on anti-drug drive, the state minister also warned, “The government has already taken stern position against narcotics, militancy and terrorism.”
