MANIKGANJ: Eminent philanthropist Rowshan Ara Begum passed away (Inna lillahe wailaihe raziun) on Saturday morning.

She died at her younger daughter Dilara Mustafa’s house at Bashundhara Residential Area in city due to the old age related complications.

She left behind two daughters, a son, relatives and a host of admirers to mourn her.

Rowshan Ara was wife of prominent politician late Advocate Aftab Uddin Ahmed at Bandutia in Manikganj.

She was the mother-in-law of Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.

Rowshan Ara’s only son Mahbub Morshed Hasan is the chief adviser to Bashundhara Group chairman.

Her first namaz-e-janaza was held after Zuhr prayers at her village while the second namaz-e-janaza will be held after Asr prayers at Bandutia Aftab Uddin High School.

Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is expected to attend the second janaza.

The deceased will be buried at her home compound on Girls’ School Road in Manikganj town.

A large number of people have thronged her village after listening to the news of her death.
