NARAYANGANJ: At least eight furniture shops were gutted in a devastating fire in a market in Shimrail area of Siddhirganj upazila of the district on Tuesday night.

Witnesses said the fire broke out from a furniture shop around 8:30pm that spread adjacent shops in the area.

Momtaz Hossain, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence, informed the matter to banglanews.

He said four fire service units from Haziganj, Mondalpara and Demra fire service rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
