DHAKA: Opposition Leader of the National Parliament Raushan Ershad on Wednesday expressed her deep sorrow on the demise of Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin, widely honored as ‘Bhasha Matin’, who passed away in the morning.

Raushan said in a condolence message that with his death the country has lost one of its brave children.

She, however, prayed for salvation of the departed soul.

Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin breathed his last on Wednesday morning at city’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Matin’s wife Gul Badan Nesa Manika told banglanews that Abdul Matin, 88, passed away around 9:00am.

‘Bhasha Matin’ had been undergoing treatment for last couple of days there for old age complications.
