DHAKA: Language Movement hero late Abdul Matin did not get state-honor due to the lack of protocol, commented health minister Mohammed Nasim.
He made the comment in reply to a query from the media on Thursday morning on Central Shaheed Minar premises while paying homage to Matin widely respected as ‘Bhasha Matin’.
There was a sufficient lack of state protocol, he added.
He said that though the hero did not get state-honor, tribute has been paid to him on behalf of the government, the president and the prime minister.
The minister further said that ‘Bhasha Matin’ is a resource of the country. The state and people will never forget Matin’s contribution during the movements including the historic Language Movement.
He further said that government has done everything for this language hero. Any complain in this regard is not true.
Matin’s dead body was brought on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday morning. People from different walks of life thronged to the place to pay homage to him.
Language Movement hero Abdul Matin passed away Wednesday morning at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital in city.
