2 killed in Sylhet road crash

SYLHET: Two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Kanaighat upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Faruk Ahmed, 25, son of late Sharif Uddin, residing in Sardarmati village of the upazila and Amir Hossain, 50, son of late Nasir Uddin, living in the same village.

Witnesses said a microbus rammed them as its driver lost control over steering in Sarakerbazar area of the upazila around 6:00pm, leaving Faruk dead on the spot and four others injured.

Later, Amir died on way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Kanaighat Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Awal Chowdhury said police, however, seized the vehicle (Sylhet Cha-11-0176) though its driver managed to flee the scene.
