3 Bagerhat ‘Razakars’ charge hearing Oct 20

DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Sunday deferred the hearing on charge framing against three war crimes suspects of Bagerhat district in eight charges.

A two member tribunal led-by Justice M Inayetur Rahim fixed October 20 for next hearing.

The accused are Latif Tatukdar, Akram Hossain Khan and Siraj Master.

Prosecutor Sayedul Haque Suman stood for the state during today’s hearing.

On September 14, the prosecution submitted eight charges against three war crime accused for their alleged crimes against humanity in Bagerhat during the country’s Liberation War.

Earlier on August 25, the probe committee, in a press briefing in their office in city’s Dhanmondi area, revealed that evidence of eight wartime crimes were found against three razakars.

The allegations against the accused include murder, mass killing, rape, loot and forcible religious conversion.

Some 64 people were made witnesses against the accused.

Latif Tatukdar was arrested on June 11, Akram Hossain Khan on June 19 and Siraj Master on July 21 a day after arrest warrant issued by ICT-1.

Later, they were produced before the tribunal.

Latif, Akram and Siraj did this crime in Shakharibazar area of Kachua upazila in Bagerhat.

In 2009, Nimai Chandra Roy, son of martyr Jitendra Nath Das at Raghudattakathi village filed the case against 12 people.
