DHAKA: Police held one more accused in Tangail four-murder case from Savar on Monday noon.

The detainee Abul Kalam Azad alias Kalam (40) is an uncle of the mastermind Jahangir Hossain and also a listed accused of the case.

A team of detective branch (DB) of police nabbed Kalam from one of his relatives’ house in Savar. He is a son of late Zahir Uddin Mandal of Dakkhin Sohagpara village of Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.

Tangail district DB police sub-inspector Chandan Kumar Chakraborty confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that Kalam is number three accused of the case.

Earlier on Saturday, police administration announced Tk 100,000 bounty to detain the prime suspect Jahangir Hossain in the killing case of a woman and her three daughters.

But the law enforcers failed to nab him.

On Tuesday, stalkers allegedly led-by Jahangir torched the house of Malaysian expatriate Mojibur Rahman pouring petrol and burnt his wife and three daughters alive at Dakkhin Sohagpara village under Mirzapur upazila of the district.

The victims were Mojibur’s wife Hasna Begum, 30, and his three daughters, Monira, 14, Mim, 6, and Moly, 4.

On Thursday morning, victims’ relatives and neighbors told banglanews that Jahangir, son of Bahar Uddin of nearby house, had long been proposing to Monira, which the girl and her family had been refusing.

Several days ago, Jahangir and his cohorts attacked Monira’s house as she (Monira) refused his proposal. The family lodged a general diary (GD) at Mirzapur Thana following the attack.

After filing GD, Jahangir along with his associates set fire to tin-shed house of Mojibur, pouring petrol through windows to avenge the refusal.

Sensing the fire, neighbors rushed in but failed to douse the flame. Later, fire fighters brought the fire under control and recovered burnt-bodies of the mother and three daughters inside the house.
