DHAKA: An organization for students called ‘Chhatra Sangram Parishad’ opposed to bring the body of BRAC University Professor Dr Piash Karim to Central Saheed Minar, who died at a city hospital early Monday.

Formed by seven student organizations including, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chhatra Moitri, JSD Chhatra League, the ‘Chhatra Sangram Parishad’ took the decision Monday afternoon.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Chhatra Moitri president Bappa Dittya Bashu said that we have demanded to the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique for not giving permission to bring Dr Karim’s body to Saheed Minar.

The VC has assured us for not giving permission in this regard, he added.

According to Bashu, if his body will be brought to the Shaheed Minar ignoring the permission then they will bar and stage demonstration.

Earlier on the day, prominent journalist Dr Mahfijullah declared that Piash Karim’s body will be kept at the Shaheed Minar for two hours from 11:00am on Wednesday to pay him the last tribute by all walks of people.

However, Piash Karim had earned fame as a right-wing political analyst.

He was also involved in controversies for being vocal against Ganajagaran Mancha in Shahbagh and also the process of trialing the war criminals.
