DHAKA: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday gave approval to eight projects, including seven new ones, worth Tk 2,887.28 crores.

The approval came from a regular ECNEC meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar NEC Bhaban in city.

Of the expenditure, government will provide Tk 1,383.48 crore while Tk 1,497.09 crore will come as project help and Tk 6.71 crore from the concerned organizations.

The projects include ‘Improvement of Road Safety at Black Spots on National Highway’, ‘Flood management in the Haor Area and Development of Livelihood’ in the upstream of Meghna River, ‘Construction of Multi Storied building in Azimpur for the Government Employees’ and ‘Construction of Multi Storied building in Motijheel for the Government Employees’.

They also include ‘Setting up of 3rd & 4th Duel Gauge Rail Line on Dhaka-Tongi Section and Duel Gauge Double Line on Tongi-Joydevpur Section (1st Amendment)’, ‘Construction of Switching Station for Palli Biddyut’, ‘Construction of Matlab Bridge on Dhangoda River in Matlab’ and ‘Extension of Transportable Library of Biswasahitya Kendra’.
