Sylhet road crash kills jeweler

SYLHET: A jeweler died at a city hospital on Thursday night after he was critically injured as a pick-up van hit him at the Surma Market Point in the city.

The deceased was identified as the Avijit Kumar, 35, son of late Falgoni Singh. He was a resident in Kakali Residence Area of the city’s Laldighi Par area.

Witnesses told banglanews the man sustained severe injuries after the pick-up van hit him when crossing road at 8:00pm on Thursday.

He was rushed to Osmani Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Locals seized the pick-up van, caught its driver and later handed over to the police.

Kotwali Thana Sub-Inspector Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

A case was filed in this connection, said Tanvir.
