DHAKA: Tight security measures have been taken and additional law enforcers were deployed to maintain law and order in front of BNP’s party office in capital’s Nayapaltan area on Friday.

Prison vans, water cannons, armored personnel carrier (APC) cars, riot cars and microbuses were deployed around the party office.

Fractional groups of Chhatra Dal brought out processions showing their protest on the other hand newly formed committee of Chhatra Dal also brought out a welcome rally in the area.

Sub-Inspector of Paltan Model Thana Hafizur Rahman told banglanews that there were demonstrations and processions around the party office of BNP centering formation of new committee of Chhatra Dal.

So that additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation, he added.

Earlier on Friday, several deprived leaders of Chhatra Dal who did not get any post in the newly formed committee, were seen protesting from last Tuesday.

They also demanded to void the committee and declare a new committee.

Otherwise they will stage further demonstration, they added.

The BNP announced a 201-member partial committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on last Tuesday.

Rajib Ahsan has been made president and Akramul Hasan general secretary of the new committee.

The section of the JCD, student wing of BNP, activists and supporters who failed to get a place in the newly formed committee brought out several processions and blasted crude bombs at the place recently.
