NETROKONA: A district court on Monday awarded life-time imprisonment to two people in a freedom fighter (FF) murder case in the district.

The convicts are Ruhul Amin, son of Jalil Shah Fakir of Mendipur village of Khaliajuri upazila and Rafiqul Islam, son of Abdul Gani of Garaunda village of Mohanganj upazila.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Hamid passed the order around 11:30am in presence of the convicts.

The court also fined Tk 50,000 each. In default, the convicted have to serve five years jail term more.

The court also released three other accused in the case as their guilty did not prove before the court.

Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) of Netrokona Saiful Alam Pradip told banglanews that on October 9, 2003, Ruhul and Rafiqul killed FF Siddiqur Rahman over the enmity on business affairs.

Victim’s brother, Saiful Islam, filed a case on October 10 against five people with Mohanganj Thana.
