DHAKA: The Namaz-e-Janaza of war criminal Ghulam Azam will be held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque after Zohr prayers on Saturday.
Ghulam Azam’s son Brigadier General (retd) Abdullahil Aman Azmi informed the matter to media in front of their house in city’s Moghbazar area on Friday evening after a meeting with the family members.
Azmi said his father’s janaza will be held only once followed by the burial at the family graveyard beside the Marriage Registrar Office at Moghbazar.
The 92-year-old former Jamaat-e-Islami chief in his last wishes wanted his elder son to conduct his Janaza; if it is not possible for Jamaat leaders Motiur Rahman Nizami or Delwar Hossain Sayedee.
As none of them is available, I will myself lead the janaza, told Aman Azmi, fourth son of Ghulam Azam.
Ghulam Azam who was serving 90 years in imprisonment for his crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War, died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Thursday night.
