SATKHIRA: An Indian citizen has been detained here on Sunday from Townshripur of bordering Debhata upazila in Satkhira for crossing boundary illegally.

The detainee has been identified as Sirajul Islam, 24, son of Nasiruddin, hailed from Shamserabad of Delhi.

Sources told banglanews that he was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in the dawn.

Confirming the matter, Debhata Thana Officer-in-Charge Ashraf Hossain said that the BGB personnel, later, handed over the Indian intruder to police custody.

The detainee is behaving like a dumb and saying nothing, he added, except writing his name and address.

The OC said that police is looking into the matter.
