DHAKA: Sea ports are advised to show cautionary signal no ‘One’ as the depression over westcentral Bay and adjoining eastcentral Bay remained practically stationary over the same area.
A Bangladesh Meteorology Department bulletin said on Saturday morning that maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no ‘One’.
All fishing boats and trawlers over deep sea have been advised to remain close to north Bay and not to venture into deep sea, it added.
According to the bulletin, the depression was centred at 6:00am on November 8, about 1,045 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 975 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 950 kms south-southwest of Mongla port and 940 kms south-southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction towards the coast of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.
Sea will remain moderate near the center of the system, the bulletin added.
