CHITTAGONG: Rail communication of Chittagong halted with other parts of the country after three compartments of a train derailed in Faujdarhat of Sitakunda on Wednesday.

Official of Railway East Zone Firoz Iftekhar said the three bogies of a container-laden Chittagong-bound train, coming from Dhaka, veered off the track around 11:00am, halting the train services.

A rescue train reached the spot and started working to resume the train communication, he added.

The official also said the reason behind the accident could not be known yet.

Though, he also hoped that the service will be resumed by 3:00pm.
