DHAKA: Miscreants snatched Tk 4.75 lakh from a businessman in Matuail area of the capital on Monday noon.

The victim--Hafizur Rahman, 34--is owner of Tuhin Enterprise, a local rod and cement trading shop.

Hafizur said a group of local terrorists--Sumon, Babu, Monir, Anwar—intercepted his motorbike around 12:00 noon while he was returning to the shop after collecting Tk 4.75 lakh and snatched the money. “The miscreants also beat me,” he said.

Later, his manager Nayan rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) following primary treatment at a local hospital.

Hafizur also claimed that the group of miscreants earlier demanded Tk 5-6 lakh as extortion to him.

Demra Thana Officer-in-Charge Zahirul Islam confirmed the incident to banglanews.
