Latif Siddique returns home

DHAKA: Abdul Latif Siddique, recently sacked as minister for his remarks on hajj, Prophet Muhammad (SM) and Tabligh Jamaat, returned home on Sunday night.

The expelled Awami League leader landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a flight of Indian Airlines at 8:40pm, Asma Ara, ASP of Armed Police Battalion (APBN), told banglanews.

APBN sources said he was seen at the VIP Lounge of the airport for a while.

Latif made derogatory remarks on hajj and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in New York on September 28.

On October 12, the ALCWC removed Latif from the AL presidium and suspended his primary membership of the party following his derogatory remarks on hajj and Hazrat Muhammad (PBUP).

On the same day, Latif was sacked from the Hasina-led cabinet.

Several arrest warrants against Abdul Latif Siddique were issued by several courts of the country in several cases filed for hurting Muslims' religious sentiments.
