MYMENSINGH: A Mymensingh court on Wednesday awarded death penalty to three people and lifetime imprisonment to five others in a sensational killing case of Fulpur upazila of the district.

The death row convicts are Askor Ali alias Badsah, Shad Uddin, and Tula Mia while the lifetime prisoners are Rubel Mia, A Chhattar, Seruzzaman, Abu Bakkar, and Atab Uddin. All the convicts are hailed from Bainzana village under Fulpur upazila of the district.

Judge Mohammad Zohurul Islam of Additional District and 4th Session Judge Court delivered the order in the afternoon. The court also fined Tk 10,000 to each convicts.

The case statement said the convicts killed Abdul Halim of Kashiganj under Tarakanda upazila on May 2, 2002 over a land dispute. Later, victim’s elder bother filed a murder case with Fulpur Thana.
