DHAKA: Malanne Verveer, visiting executive director of the Institute for Women, Peace and Security of Georgetown University, made a courtesy call on Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, also Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee Chairperson.
She met the Speaker at her parliament office on Monday.
During the parley, they discussed bilateral issues, including initiatives taken for the development of Bangladesh readymade garments (RMG) sector.
The Speaker said Bangladesh RMG products have earned widespread praise across the world. Besides, this is the largest economic sector in the country.
Bangladesh is committed to ensure congenial work environment as most of the workers are women, the Speaker added.
Shirin Sharmin told Malanne that Bangladesh has also earned admire in its achievement to the social and human development index.
